Searched high and low on fatwallet for a thread on toilets and came up with nada. So I had to do all the googling and price comparisons myself. Terry Love’s website gives a great comparison of all the toilets. If you don’t want to spend hours reading about this stuff, I’ll give you my readers digest condensed version.

* Toto drake comes in at a decent price, gets great reviews, and all the plumbers are gaga over toto brand toilets. Drake is reasonably priced, and if you want to get more expensive/stylish , those are available too.

* American Standard/Kohler have a lot of quality problems, require multiple flushes and the dreaded plunger. (not all models, but definitely some). For example, the american standard champion line is known for having quality problems (read the forums at terry love). In fact, the only one that I considered is the cadet 3 (not the cadet). I saw this for 119 at lowes, which makes it about half the price of the toto drake. However, there was incomplete data on the cadet 3 to determine if they have QC problems like some of the other american standards.

* The “high end” AS/Kohler toilets at home depot/lowes were in the mid $200 and up range. Since I could get two of the beloved drakes for $190 each shipped, I went that route. Anyway, here is the website I used. They shipped the bowl out within a day. I’m in Mass and they are in NJ and it came the next day. They shipped the tank separately though, and that took another 10 days. Customer service wait times are 5-10 minutes typically, but the info was good.

HomeClick

UPDATE
I just found the frickin toilet *MUCH* cheaper than HomeClick by looking through a ton of google results. They have live chat. Wish I had found this earlier. Use promo code PKLSDO87HR at checkout. Man, this is way better deal than HomeClick, and the colors are priced the same. For the elongated/ada bowl, HomeClick might still be cheaper.

UPDATE2
Forkitchenandbath has raised the price $100. Deal seems dead at $166 shipped. Still available at HomeClick for $216 shipped. As always, also check your local home plumbing supply company and try to get a PM.
